life is hard

So I'm at a really tough place in my life right now.

My current job is great.
But it unfortunately does not appear to present much room to grow.

I need to make more than $9.00 an hour, I have a wife now, and plan on having lil kiddos at some point in the future, $9.00 won't cut it.

I love my music, but after perusing a career in that realm for going on 9 years, I have pretty much came to a conclusion that that wont do it either, financially speaking. I'll continue making music, but just because I love it!

I am a minister by heart, but feel bad trying to get a job at some church, doing some thing that I probably should offer for free. Not saying that you shouldn't get paid for your services as a minister, but saying I feel awkward trying to get someone to pay me for it.

I like graphics stuff, and have a natural talent (I think) and want to pursue a career in web design and\or graphic design, But I hate school and feel like I'm too old to start going to college, I mean my wife is about to graduate!

Anyways, just saying life is kind of tough and confusing sometimes!

Just want to encourage you a little on the career side to explore a little. I hear what you are saying about school and all, especially the not liking it part. I am 37 and my wife just turned 34 yesterday. She just graduated from Rose State with an Associates in Liberal Studies and graduated in December from Rose State with Associates in Applied Science (Multimedia Communications).

The AAS in M.C. is basic design stuff with a little web design thrown in. She has been trying to get a job in graphic design for going on 5 years, but nobody would give her a shot because of lack of verifiable work experience in design, even though she is an artist. Needless to say, she was very discouraged by that, but decided to get in school, that she could and would do it. She got a job last week starting at close to $12/hr.

She has even decided that ultimately she wants to teach collegiately so she is pursuing here Bachelor's and Master's at OKCU starting fall semester and has even qualified for scholarships totallying $15000 per year. (Tuition is about $20,000) (By they way, now might be a good time to point out that she hasn't been working too much during this time, and I have been in vocational ministry for about 18 months, so we don't make all that much money)

By the way, if you do consider vocational ministry, it's different. I just turned in resignation a couple weeks ago for some time this summer. It's a different ball game altogether and I decided I wasn't too happy getting paid to minister, besides, I think I was much more effective unpaid. Besides, my position was adminstrator, which is almost ALL task oriented, so it was a little hard for me to see "ministry" some times.

Sorry, I'm a little long winded, I'll shut up now. Best of luck, hope to hear good things from you in the future. Families tend to point you that direction.
