BUTT OUT! ... PLEASE

Yup...
The preverbal rubber smacks the concrete now buddy!
This is my year to change right?
Thats what I said right?

Well if you happen to be a friend or family member who does not know that I smoke, SURPRISE!!  I do, well umm...I did!?
As of this week I quit...I am quitting... Its really hard!
Like I said I apologize, for not telling you, but you see here in America we tend to have our little pet sins, and smoking seems to be one them.
We don't smoke, drink, cuss,or sex, out side of marriage.
So it is a little un-comfortable for me to be honest about this nasty little habit I struggle with in fear that you will grab your little perfect stones and bash my freaking brains out!
I quit once before...for over 5 years.
I quit for the wrong reasons though, I was afraid it would send me to hell, (not biblical by the way) I'm not even convinced fully that smoking is a "sin" Mr. Pot Belly Mcdonalds eating high cholesterol having preacher!!!! If it is a sin its only because it destroys the body... sort of like twinkles or soda or judge-mentalisim.
Sorry for the rant.
This time I quit for the right reasons!
I quit for me, I quit for Allison, I quit for my future babies, and grand babies, I quit to breath, and run(walk for that matter) I quit to be alive!!! I quit because I want to live.

I refuse to pay an expensive price for an early death.
I will live fully alive!!!!

So this means if you are a praying person... please do so for me.
I am quitting no matter what!
But I would LOVE IT if the with drawls were not so bad!!!

I will keep you posted.

Thanks

Love the authenticity.

I hear you get hipster points for that.

Congrats.

I was a theology major for a bit and from what I've found smoking might only be a sin in that God ussually smokes sinners with lightning bolts a few times, but other than that it seems fine. It's one of those it's a sin for me but not for you sorta deals. Did you know that? One thing can be a sin to someone and not to someone else.

Par examplar : Alcohol

Jesus made like 72 gallons of wine once, really good wine. Paul tells Lil' Tim to drink because he's sick. While other people need to stay far away from alcohol because of addictions and genetics.

Yay Bible.

It's not in itself bad, but it can become horrible.

I have a few friends that smoke pipes which makes them cooler than me.

Just remember that when you get tempted the answer is fajitas.

Always fajitas.

Thanks all of you! Really!

@Adam: I did actually know about the grey lines of scripture and how some things are sin for some people and not for others. Thats an odd thing

I personally don't think its a sin for me, just stupidity!

I don't want to die anytime sooner than I have to!

I think cigars and pipes are way cool too. I doubt I will be able to enjoy the likes of such anytime soon though. Must starve the tobacco beast inside of me!

Thanks again!

I agree with OB! Long live Manasseh!

I found this online:

The immediate effects of smoking cessation include:

Within 20 minutes blood pressure returns to its normal level

After 8 hours oxygen levels return to normal

After 24 hours carbon monoxide levels in the lungs return to those of a non-smoker and the mucus begins to clear

After 48 hours nicotine leaves the body and tastebuds are improved

After 72 hours breathing becomes easier

After 2-12 weeks, circulation improves

After 5 years, the risk of heart attack falls to about half that of a smoker

After 10 years, the chance of lung cancer is almost the same as a non-smoker.

It's now been about 64 hours since your last cigarette. That means better blood pressure, more oxygen, less carbon monoxide, better taste buds and you're almost to better breathing!!!

Here's to living fully ALIVE!!
