Somewhere in the middle (PART 1)

It seems the more time I spend engaging in this thing called "life" I find that there will always be different choices we will have to make ,yet some how the most sound of these choices will always be found somewhere in the middle of the options presented. I could go into many examples of this, but instead I will present a multi sectioned overview of God's character and a couple of the prominent ways of viewing him.

This my Friends is part 1

1. "The god who hates himself".
1 John 4:8 says this: Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

This god's followers are very intolerant of all sin, and necessarily become judgmental towards the people doing the sin, they often times say things like "if you get caught with your hand in the cookie jar...to HELL WITH YA!!!" They also tend to hate tattoos, piercings, secular music, smoking, drinking, and most of all cussing!!
But oddly enough they seem to love them some fat and greasy food, and get special holy points for how many sinful little humans they can judge.
This self hating God is viewed as strictly a score keeping tyrant, very judgemental, hating his people and yearning to pull out his proverbial bread basket and send them to some flaming eternal pit full of worms and homosexuals.
Now I'll admit that this might be a stretch, but I think you get the point. Holy God + my mistakes = hell. He is often times viewed as being, full of hate, the necessary problem with this idea of him is that love is the opposite of hate, God is love, therefore He can not be full of hate towards His people who are made in His own image and likeness, remember He loved the world so much He gave His Son. The gift's of God are without repentance, and last time I checked grace was not only a gift but the most perfect gift ever given!
Now in this belief system there are truths, just like there are truths found in the opposing side that I'll discuss in part 2. God is just, He is righteous, He does hate sin, not the sinner, we should serve Him, and have reverence for Him, He is the creator of life it self. We should bow down before Him and worship as God and King of the universe! However to lay hold of the righteous, Holy nature of Him, and not recognise the loving, gentle, forgiving, side of who He is, we are missing the bigger picture, and putting our self's in a bad place to fall victim to the condemnation of our enemy, who has always been a fallen imitator.

Like I stated in the preface of this post, there is a happy medium in between extreme world views, I believe it should be our lifetime goal to find that place of balance and become secure in the insecurities of being in a relationship with a powerful, and just, yet loving Father.
But before I dive into the opposing extreme, lets take some time reflect and view this crazy perspective on God, with the intentions of discovering any traits or views we might have that match up with this belief system.

Shalom
